Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs
Acupuncture is a healing technique in which very fine needles are inserted into specific ‘gates,’ or points, along or near the energy channels. In this way, disease is treated or prevented by stimulating the flow of Qi. The patient may feel a tingling, electrical sensation traveling through the meridian. During a treatment, alpha waves are transmitted through the brain, often inducing a dream-like state.
While acupuncture addresses mostly the yang, or surface of the body, herbs focus on yin, or internal manifestations of disharmony. Herbal prescriptions are prepared after a careful diagnosis of each individual according to the specific nature of the disease.
